He is one of the new faces of Italian soccer. A mainstay for Cagliari for three seasons, Mauro Esposito has finally succeeded into the limelight of Serie A due to his goals and his talent as an outside forward. Along with Gianfranco Zola, he has been one of the players instrumental to Cagliari''s promotion in the Serie - he scored a remarkable 17 goals in the second division series in just one season. He came to top-level soccer in the Pescara jersey playing in Serie B for three seasons. After two years in Serie A and nine appearances with Udinese, he went back to play in Serie B with Pescara, to then finally join Cagliari. Here he found just the right current for his career to soar, scoring 35 goals in three seasons. He started off the present Serie A Championship in the best possible way, earning himself a nomination for the Italian National team and his first appearance in an official match, Slovenia-Italy October 9, 2004.
