Cobreloa FC may be a young club, but have already won several championships. For the past thirty years, they've been at the top of Chilean football. After making its entrance in the Second Division, Cobreloa moved up to First Division, and in 1980 won their first championship title. In the 1980's, they brought home many victories and played memorable matches against Colo Colo and Universidad Catolica. Cobreloa won the championship again in 1982, 1985, 1988, and 1992.

After their 1992 victory, Cobreloa began a decade of difficulties, and the young football club has yet to find its previous form. They were able to break their years of bad luck in 2003, winning the Opening Championship, and immediately afterwards the Closing Championship, which has proved to be their most recent and notable success.
